Zikula is a Web Application Toolkit, which allows you to run impressive websites and build powerful online applications. Zikula has received praise for many things, but we belive the highlights are ease of use, quick and easy development, security and performance and lastly flexibility. A tool kit provides you with a number of different tools to get a job done. Zikula does just that, but for websites and web applications. Depending on which distribution you choose to run, Zikula could manage your blog articles, allow comments on your site, run a forum, downloads section or link directory or even handle static content in any number of languages. For day to day work with Zikula, you won't need any technical knowledge - those of us on the team have set up websites for multi-national organisations, blogs, schools, the Scout Association and even Church groups. All of these people were able to use Zikula effectively for their needs.

Not sure this is a novices system, though basic setup is a breeze, and for an 'out of the box' solution it is fair. It's great power is in creating bespoke solutions, and in this it is in a league of it's own. Not an easy learning curve, but worth the effort. Support can be a bit hit and miss which is a shortcoming. Needs more than basic skills to make it really sing. On that level it is far superior imo. Get to grips with the Framework, and almost anything is possible.
Funktioniert sehr gut und macht was es soll.
About the best 'free' cms with great extensibility. Admin is fine and Modules and Themes simply plug-in and out. Some themes only work with certain modules, some modules conflict, or need recoding. If you want a simple and customisable blog or cms then Zikula is great.
It's good however the overall process to setting up blocks is a little complicated and it takes some reading to set everything up correctly. The script is fast though, I gotta say that. The site in which this script comes from however, it appears that their theme list is very unorganized and 90% of the themes listed the images to show what they look like doesn't even exist and held with a no image place marker.. Very sad imo...
This script is really good. One must try it. Its an extension of Post-Nuke
